A beautifully designed & crafted extending dining table designed by John Herbert for Younger. The chairs and table were produced in relatively low numbers so rarely come up as complete sets. The set is one of the smaller produced sets and made from teak. The set dates from the late 1960s.
Younger were renowned for their high quality workmanship and mainly retailed through the Department Store ‘Heals’.
The table extends by simply pulling the leaves out and the extension in stored inside. Once fully extended the table can comfortably seat six to eight people. The chairs are upholstered in the original black vinyl.
The chairs and table have been cleaned thoroughly. Then completely refinished with hardwax oil. This model of chairs are known for coming loose so all chairs have been screwed and reglued. It has left filled holes on the back of the chairs but has increased the integrity of them. The table has quite a light teak tone and is very clean with minimal use. The upholstery is original and clean with no rips. The set is a stunning example of english furniture from the mid century.
I would say that the condition is a 7.5 out of 10.
