Very rare opportunity to own a stunning danish style sideboard from the highly regarded brand of A H McIntosh of Scotland. This rare sunburst sideboard was made in Britain around the early 1960s and has a very contemporary and impressive design. It is similar to other brands like Nathan and G plan but has an edge on quality, having a pull out cutting/ prep tray, full brass piano hinges and stylish full length minimal handles. This also has double pull down doors at each end and then a bank of three drawers in the centre. The beautiful veneer pattern on the doors stands alone making this sideboard like no other McIntosh. The cuts and style of the veneer makes the teak grain look like a flower which we’ve not seen before. The sideboard has very simple turned and stylish legs with a nice symmetrical look thats very pleasing on the eye.
This item is in very good original condition with no major damage. It has been fully stripped and refinished in a multiple coats of French polish to restore the vintage look. There is a light bubbling effect to the veneer all over the sideboard. It’s difficult to see in the pictures but can be visible in person, but doesn’t detract from the quality of the item. There is also a small veneer repair on the sunburst door.
We would say that the condition is an 8 out of 10. This would make an ideal TV unit or media cabinet fitting beautifully into a retro living or dining area.
This item is not new and does show signs of wear and tear as it is a original item from the mid century.
