Morris of Glasgow Cloud Shaped Coffee Table - prototype with Formica
The iconic and rather wonderful Neil Morris designed ‘Cloud’ table from the Morris of Glasgow Cumbrae range dating from 1947. Normally these tables have a walnut veneer but this one has a Formica walnut patterned top. Also the top normally shows the layers of plywood and the bevel is on the top. This particular table the ply is the other way round like it’s been flipped over. We thought it was not original but the cumbrae range stamp in on the bottom. This certified to us it’s an original Morris modification. The table also has gliders on the bottom of the legs which are also original. This unusual and likely one off table still has that striking look and will make a statement in anyone’s home.
The table legs have been fully refinished and polished to a lovely deep shine to the walnut. The top has been polished. There is signed of wear and one small split to the top Formica. Very early example and in great condition and any significant marks will be shown in the pictures. An 8 out of 10 for overall condition.
