A very rare desk from the Limba range designed in 1960 by Leslie Dandy for G plan. This has the curved floating desk top that G Plan utilised in their furniture designs. High quality limba wood veneer was used in the construction of this item.
The piece features 3 drawers plus a large roomy compartment for further storage. It combines Limba, an African hardwood, with metal legs and handles described by G plan as “champagne-silver” colour. This range was only made for a short time so are now rare. The range has an industrial look. Combining wood and metal is right on trend today.
The item has been cleaned and rubbed back and refinished with a buffing wax. This has enhanced the protection to the original finish and given the limba grain a nice deep shine. The condition is very good with only the main marks on the drawers inside edges. It has been extremely well looked after. The overall condition is a high 8 out of 10. Stunning item that would go well into a contemporary home or mid century themed house.
