This is a stunning compact desk by the English brand Stag. This is part of one of the early ranges designed by John and Sylvia Reid. This has wonderfully styled solid Brass pull ring handles that enhances the smooth oak veneered drawers. This unit has a nicely proportioned bank of drawers with a plain hidden drawer above the seat area. The minimal designed desk is set on top of solid oak frame square legs. This desk is a great compact size that is suitable for those space saving areas or a home office. This lovely desk has strong mid century design influence and a very modern minimalistic design which is very typical of John & Sylvia Reid. Very stylish retro item with very good build quality.
The condition of this unit is very good. They are overall for Condition 7.5 out of 10. Very clean top and front. No broken or loose parts and have been very well looked after. Drawers all run smoothly. They have also been refinished in a combination of oils and waxes to give a deep shine to the grain. The desk has a slight bow to the centre but this doesn’t affect the use or the drawers on the desk. There are some side scuffs on one side and the drawers side shows some wear to the original varnish. Lovely item that would fit seamlessly into a ultra contemporary or vintage themed home.Please see photos for any significant marks or defects.
