This is lovely set of restored Mid Century Ercol dining chairs In Blonde finish. These chairs are from ercols Goldsmith range which today is no longer in production , They feature a high spindle back with shaped top piece. they are made from solid elm seat and solid beech frames and feature very stylish high quality design which is very typical of early ercol. They come as a set of four but can be a set of eight chairs (two carvers). They are finished in what is known as the Blonde finish which is ercols lightest finish from back in the 1960s and is the most popular with buyers today. As you can see original ercol chairs are timeless and would fit in any traditional or contemporary dining area. Ercol do still produce chairs and are priced around £250-£400 per chair. These particular ones have character and a patina that you would never get in a new ercol chair. They have the round gold label which dates them to the late 70s.
The chairs have been completely stripped and sanded. They have been refinished in layers of danish oil and buffing wax polish has been used over the oils to enhance and protect the chairs. They have lovely grainy finish that you can’t get from the ercol standard finish. There are no lose parts or any damage to any of the chairs. The chairs are in very good order and are getting harder to find in complete original sets.
Over all this is not brand new but is in very good condition for being over 50 years old. I have tried to capture the condition the best i can through photos and description
I would say that the condition is a 8.5 of 10. These are not new but a fine example of very well looked after original ercol items
