Morris of Glasgow dressing table with mirror from the mid century. These are normally made from a darker walnut veneer but the veneer on this particular one is a reddish colour and looks more like teak. It still has sycamore edging and blade-shaped sleek legs. This dressing table is a stunning piece of design and craftsmanship from the 1950s. It has two short drawers either side of a central long one, within which is the gold stamp for the ‘Cumbrae’ range of antique furniture by Morris of Glasgow. The mirror is in a fixed position and does not tilt, though it can be removed along with its frame if desired to be used as a desk. This is one of the most striking designs of a dressing table and although designed in the 50s would look right at home in a ultra modern home or retro themed home.
This dressing table has been stripped, cleaned and rubbed back. Then the table has been refinished using multiple layers of oil and waxes and has really given the dressing table a deep shine and really brought out the grains on the reddish veneer and given contrast to the lighter wood used. There is one tiny splice veneer replacement in the picture and very small filled dent to the top. The overall condition of this is a 9 out of 10 and has been a very well looked after and re polished item of furniture from the mid century.
