This is an early example of mid century military issue furniture. This particular chest of drawers is stamped with A.M Crown stamp that is from the Air Ministry and dates from around the early 50s. This is a very well made item of furniture with lovely exposed box joint details. This the top drawer pull out and flaps to to be used as a writing desk with back shelf. There is also three good sized drawers all with nice turned wooden handles. This a very nice utilitarian item of industrial furniture with lovely charm and very practical.
The drawers have been cleaned down and refinished in a combination of oils and buffing waxes. This has helped enhance the original finish along with giving a nice deep shine to the light golden oak grains. The drawers do show signs of use and wear with some paint marks inside and some knocks and scratches. This is all part of the aged look and are free from damage and all drawers and mechanisms work fine. The overall condition is 7.5 out of 10 and these would make a stunning addition to anyone’s home.
