A British John Herbert designed for A. Younger Ltd Teak Sideboard. circa 1950s/60s, with 2 door cupboards, each cupboard with one adjustable height shelf. This sideboard has previously been adapted and the drawer section removed. A new top has also been put on the unit. It has been put together pretty well but the edging of the doors is not as good as the original. The sideboard has solid afromosia legs and edging. There are also dark matching wood handles and lovely teak veneers. It still has a premium look and a very useful size of a smaller mid century sideboard.
Younger were renowned for their high quality workmanship and mainly retailed through the Department Store ‘Heals’.
The condition of the sideboard is good. It has been cleaned down and refinished with a combination of danish oil and waxes. The unit now has the deep shine that will enhance the protection to the wood. There is some filled holes to one side and missing edging on one door. The sideboard is in very good solid condition with clean top and no major damage. This unit is a 7.5 out of 10 for its overall condition. Please see photographs for any obvious knocks or dents to the item.
